This will likely be my last dispatch from LG under the old regime. Gives me a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach. (Or maybe I just need something to eat.)
The following was posted at the NY Times Refugees page & is republished here with some changes.
greenpagan (Feb 4, 10:17 PM): GUNS SUCK!
So tired of this sh!t. There are no real men in America. Only adolescent boys in a perpetual pissing contest! Guns are merely phallic symbols for the impotent of mind & gonads!
THE MENTALLY UNSTABLE = GUN-OWNERS IN THE U$A...!!! Screw all of you! Tonite in LG the Town Council takes up issues surrounding the opening of a local gun-store. Canada is looking better all the time esp. if the GO-Pig Party is resurgent! FU & GOODBYE!
Is that like the Old GP or what? Feels so good...
(But I mean all of the above in the nicest possible way.) (Yeah, right...)

greenpagan (Feb 4, 10:27 PM): More laws are needed to utterly suppress the STUPIDITY of the naked apes to the right (wrong) side of the love-bead who think they are fully human when they're nothing but vicious insects! They shouldn't be allowed to drive cars either. Benevolent despotism is okay with me--Plato's Republic instead of Dubya subgenius types & Teabagging imbeciles!
(This is going pretty good. I'm manic right now but honest enough.)

Apologies for the flames.
I guess I was just coasting out of post-Super Bowl exuberance & the current gun controversy in Los Gatos. My lawyer lady friend Andrea addressed the Town Meet last night & while everyone there was civilized pretty much--pro-gunners coming from out-of-town--it was of course a hot emotional issue. (Also: My Conn. cousins live only a few towns over from New Town.) The Templar Armory (sporting goods) was fast-tracked thru. Even before the State of CA & the Federal clearance. According to the gunshop's atty. that process is kosher but what's a lawyer for? (What are lawyer's for? Another imponderable ponderable.) (Joke: How do you know when a lawyer's lying? Rhetorical question...)
BTW--I'm sitting here at the Bear sipping my coffee & keeping a hunter's eye on White Tiger Woman (Sandy) who looks lke a young Susan Sarandon, with her bald headed "boyfriend"? Thinking: I'd plow her field like nobody's business, in a NY minute!
Jazzman, Cheech, Chooch & et al would really appreciate this town. Conservative Democrat but leaning right-libertarian. The Free Market = the Magical Mystical Invisible Hand of Yahweh, Jesus, Shekinah & Holy Spirit. IOW--Independent types. Like myself. Funny that, right? My moods swing wide. So give me a wide berth, that's all. Its not Frisco. (I can call SF Frisco, I drove cab there for 3 years between ships & tugjobs. That's tugboats, not the other thing. I was a hand however. A deckhand that is. For Crowley Maritime. Jack probably heard of them out of Boston, which is/was their HQ.
And listening to the souped-up version of the Dead's I Know You Rider . Invigorating.
Listened to it about 100 times since Super Bowl. And...I keep listening to it. I wonder why...?
Maybe because I love it.

In conclusion just wanted to say that I've been a gunowner. I'm living at a place where such dangerous toys are prohibited. And that's alright with me. We've dogs & other weaponry up there. Other "equalizers". Like my fists. I'm no Mohammed Ali but I pity the fool.
I don't think ALL gunowners mentally disturbed. Just the ones who go around with streetsweepers looking to wipe out herds of water buffalo...or large groups of humans.
There was even an ex-Green Beret vet gunowner who took an anti-gun stance with regards to a gunshop in the downtown vicinity.
But the big question centered around how there was no public transparency for approval of this particular business. And no public disclosure of the so-called "silent partners".

ADD: Guns
Not all speakers were heard from at the LG Town Council Meeting so there'll be an extended session at some future date. My friend A. made an impressive presentation telling the assembly that guns were part of the culture of death, that their misuse wasn't an abstraction especially when friends & family members became victims of psychiatrics & criminals.
More than 100 speakers addressed the Los Gatos Town Council Monday evening during a meeting to discuss the sales of firearms and ammunition following the December 2012 opening of Templar Sports, 611 University Avenue.
The long and emotionally charged meeting was attended by at least 300 people who packed inside Council chambers, into the chambers' reception lobby and into the adjacent old Los Gatos Library where the meeting was projected on TV sets and a large screen.
One by one, each speaker was allowed to state their position on the controversial issue for three minutes. The Council patiently listened to residents' input taking a five-minute break at around 9:30 p.m., after what already had been a 2½-hour meeting.
At five minutes to midnight, Los Gatos Mayor Barbara Spector reported that she still had approximately 25 speaker cards to go through so Councilwoman Marcia Jensen and Councilman Joe Pirzynski moved to have the meeting continue on Feb. 11. About 125 speaker cards had been submitted as of 9:30 p.m.
"This is obviously a very challenging and divisive issue nationally, statewide and now locally," said Los Gatos Town Manager Greg Larson.
