You sit in a packed theater and have a shared response to what's onscreen, whether its art or blockbuster. Yes, sometimes it can be both, and I'd be the first to get excited about a well-made blockbuster, especially when I get to share that experience among the strangers in the cinema and the friends who finally decided to join me.

Movies have a unique way of bringing people together, both those in the theater and those onscreen. A lot of my favorite movies are about guys sharing a defining experience, which brings them closer and forges an unspoken bond. Often times these shared “brotherhood” moments are brief, even slight, like a righteous handshake or a knowing glance, where men look to each other and see eye-to-eye. The moments may be brief, but they seem to last a lifetime, at least in my mind. Here's a list of those movies and moments.
