Strangers & Lovers  (Second Variation) [Revised]

strangers and lovers wander
these places coming and going
never recalling others' faces

unable unstable but ever so slight,
what they looked for the other night
felt like extreme embraces

what's called for here
sudden  slow severe
is better left without  traces

if we find finding of another kind
best works for strangers and lovers
like we two who lurk unclear

in the dark of our hiding places 
then maybe new journeys around
other bodies once found can begin

as begin now circling our own 
evening star haunting the horizon 
strangers together, lovers alone

forever trying desperately to bind
with those most like ourselves
in heat of the flesh & depth of mind

Strangers and lovers wandering
through this world, coming and going
never completely knowing the other

but trying. Maybe it just isn't possible 
or needed, and the sudden or the slow
the better of the ways to let it all go.

And if found a spontaneous glee
best works for strangers and lovers
like you and me, our journeys

around each other are hardly spent.
We're strangers together, lovers alone.
Like Sun and Moon both rising in the Orient.
