Do the nonreligious give less to charity than the religious? Well, the data are a bit muddy, but on the balance of probabilities they should, I think, be found guilty as charged. But does this mean that the religious are more generous than atheists? Here the data are clear. The resounding answer is no!

This is a joke, right?

There's more to generosity than handing over cash to a charity, and there are plenty of other ways to help your fellow humans. How do the nonreligious perform when it comes to generosity in kind, rather than in cash?

So Atheists are like Conservatives. Tight with their money. Yet, these tightfisted Atheists, secular humanists that they are, want the honor that comes with being philanthropic or goes with being charitable.

By the way, it is easier to be generous when money isn't involved. Or others are generous with you.

But real generosity includes being generous to people who need it, but can't pay you back, or reciprocate.

Good article. I tend to think that it's often easier to be generous when money is involved. Giving up one's time, energy, earning potential, patience, understanding, etc. can be much harder to do than throwing $10 in a kettle at Xmas time.
