Powell Hits Back At Limbaugh: Calling Sotomayor A 'Reverse Racist' Is 'Nonsense'

Last May, hate radio talker Rush Limbaugh called Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, a "reverse racist," referring to Sotomayor's past comment that a "wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Today on CNN, former Secretary of State Colin Powell criticized such comments. Saying that Sotomayor is a "gifted" and an "accomplished woman" with "a judicial record that seems to be balanced and tries to follow the law," Powell added that calling her a "reverse racist" is "nonsense":

POWELL: What we can't continue to have is to have somebody like a Judge Sotomayor…called a "racist," or a "reverse racist" and she ought to withdraw her nomination because we're mad at her. Fortunately the senators who will sit on this hearing in the Judiciary Committee after a few days of this kind of nonsense said, "Let's slow down. Let's examine her qualifications and the way we're supposed to at a confirmation hearing."

When host John King asked about the GOP's "sensitivity" toward minorities, Powell took aim at Limbaugh directly, firing back at his claim that Powell only supported Obama's candidacy for president because he is black:

POWELL: And when you have non-elected officials such as we have in our party who immediately shout racism or somebody who is quite prominent in the media says the only basis upon which I could possibly have supported Obama was because he was black and I was black even though I laid out my judgment on the candidates, then we still have a problem.

Wait...I'm confused??? Rush Limbaugh, spouting nonsense??? How can this be???

When asked why he was torturing a poor dumb animal, Igor said in Van Helsing, "It's what I do..." Limbaugh does nonsense and raises your blood pressure if you have so little sense as to believe what he says.

Sheeeesh!

That's grossly unfair to oafen louts.

The crapsplatter known as Limbaugh is orders of magnitude more offensive than a mere oafen lout. Plus a bigot in his own right, and did I mention a crapsplatter?

You know Powell just needs to put up or shut up. He is too much of a Wiesel to run for office. If he thinks he can do a better job then RUN!

Otherwise I don't care what that man has to say. He is two faced and can't stand on principles

Sotomayer isn't a " reverse racist ", she is simply a racist. A none too bright one. And a professional mediocrity. Powell, who stabbed the Republicans in the back after being made a household word by Bush41 & Bush 43, can crawl back under his favorite rock. I don't care for either Powell, or George Stephaneolpis, or any who betray their " friends " for political advantage. The sniping that McCain has done since the campaign toward Palin, by proxy, is distasteful, also.

Neither Bush made Powell a "house-hold" name. His priciples, honor, intelligence, service and decency is what is admired of him. Traits he had long before his association with those administrations. When I think of Powell, I don't see republican. Or a republican who agrees with Democrats at times. I see a true American. Taking the high road. Thinking clearly.

There is no contest between Gen. Powell and Mr. Limbaugh. Soldier, patriot, public servant, intelligent republican vs........well, my mother always said that if I didn't have something good to say about someone, then say nothing.

THE problem with our party is that many choose to listen to the "Limbaughs" and not to the"Powells". Anyone who bothered , as I did, to listen to the entire interview in which Gen. Powell explained the reasons for his endorsement of President Obama would know that skin tone had nothing to do with the General's obviously agonizing decision.

In the General's explanation for his endorsement he outlined in very specific and non accusatory terms not only his reasons for the "out of party" endorsement; but also many of the reasons so many good republicans (voters as well as politicians) are leaving the party.

We should be learning from intelligent people such as Gen. Powell how to strengthen our party; not to muckrakers who only tell us what we want to hear, while our voter base gets smaller and smaller.

One of the most insightful, honest statements from a repubican that I have read on the boards in a long time.

As long as the GOP is letting the likes of Fox News, Rush, Coulter and the rest of the never held office, hate mongering, fear spreading mouth pieces who appears to have set the agenda of the GOP making the GOP lose the support of the moderate and independent voters.

The GOP will continue to lose support until they are marginalized to just the southern states having the religious right, the one issue voters ( gun control, anti abortionist, against gay rights and other moral issues), and the bigots as their base with no growth.

The likely hood of a third party gaining strength in this country is growing stronger as more and more people are leaving the GOP but not wanting to be part of the democratic party.

I see the libertarian party posed to gain the disenfranchised GOP voter and becoming a viable national party in the next 8-15 years.

honest doctor - I second your comments. The moderates in your party are being driven out by extremists, plain and simple. There has to be some fear of hidden percentages which keeps Republican moderates quiescent in the face of Limbaugh, Hannity, et. al. Let's not forget that Dick Cheney himself said:

Well, if I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I’d go with Rush Limbaugh, I think,” Mr. Cheney said in an interview on “Face the Nation” on CBS. “I think my take on it was Colin had already left the party. I didn’t know he was still a Republican.”

I well remember how unhappy General Powell looked toward the end of his tenure as Sec. of State. Seemingly, he hasn't recovered. Both he and Oprah endorsed Obama simply because he is black, and I see nothing wrong with that. Just be honest about it. His " agonized decision " is bull. He can do his Hamlet-pacing-the- ramparts if he wants. I think it is boring.

General Powell is a politician. Not an elected politician, but a politician regardless. A person doesn't rise to 4 star rank, or become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, without being very adept at service politics. Both he and McCain want to be in the good graces of the Beltway bozos. The best way for Republicans to do that is to trash conservatives. So Powell does Rush, and McCain does Palin. Powell gets invited on talk shows, and McCain just gave the July 4 address for the Republicans. Enough said ?

So George, did you vote for McCain because he is white? Just think about that comment, if that was the case, I guess that question could have been asked many years before? Are people voting for people because of the color of their skin, we know that cannot be true, because all our past presidents have been white males, so are we voting because they are males? It could go on and on.....

And if you really listened to Powell, you will see how much it is hurting him that his own party is just falling apart. And it is because the GOP will not open their eyes and listen to the people (the American people) and it is not helping that they are just falling around themselves. They need to open themselves up and talk and relate to others outside of the political world and just maybe they will be able to figure out what needs to change (but they keep listening to only those who say what they want to hear and no more; they don't want to see that change is necessary to get them back on their feet). And that is what Powell is saying....new views, new ideas, new everything.

We need to not listen to Rush (he is not an elected official, he is a "RADIO HOST" and I think people FORGET that, it is HIS JOB! He is way out there and he just says things to get people rowled up -- and he just keeps getting richer in the process and laugh at you "non thinkers for yourselves" all the way to the BANK? I bet he goes to the bank, more then you do! - 37 million salary a year, what will it be next year.....

So, let's join those who wants to focus on what can help the GOP party get better and it that proces, the GOP has to take criticism, because if you don't listen to what is wrong, you don't know what you have to fit. And as we can see, there is a lot of fixing that is needed!

      tired of carrying everyone

As an Independent, I was disappointed when General Powell said in his own words that race was part of his decision to back President Obama. If he had never utter those words I would have respected him a whole lot more. I have alway voted on what a canidate stood for, but I also am old enough that I remember when Sammy Davis Jr. came out in 1972 and said he would endorse Richard Nixon. He got all sorts of death threats. This is the advantage for one having a dad who was a history teacher and felt it was his patriotic duty to follow and read and not take for granted that a politican would have our best interest in their hearts but also to the neighborhood I grew up in Michigan(it was very diverse both racial and ethnically). The strange thing I heard over and over again as an Indpendent was you needed to vote for President Obama was because of who he was but not what he stood for and to this day I really do not know what his platform was. There would have been a time I would have voted for Jesse Jackson on his earlier platforms because he addressed everyone. But as I have said before and will say again the only reason most who voted for the Current President is they are looking for a Free Handout or they feel they are entitled. The states that went with this president had the electorial votes but I can say the Free handout and entitled because being from Michigan, but have family in Indiana, and Ohio so I have seen this all of my life.

This is the problem, when a country votes someone in by race and not merit it's the beginning of a the downfall of a nation.

At next election we've got to put someone in office who won't hang out with the low life leaders of countries who hate the USA.

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

      Note the 4 in bold...

      1. She says I would hope that, not that Latinawomen always does come to the right conclusion, but hopes she would.

      2. With the richness of her experiences, in other words things a white male can never understand because he has never dealt with them. for example a male cannot truly understand sexism against a female can they now?

      3. She says more often then not, again that doesn't mean always!

      4. She says who hasn't lived that life, This is the most important part please pay close attention, if she has experienced something that a white male has never had to deal with, Of course she would make a better decision. Never once did she say that a white male couldn't make a better decision if it pertained to a topic she had little familiarity with!

This was not a racist comment until Rush and the GOP edited it so you would be their pawn and repeat it. Basically get off the racist BS comments you are being either dishonest or blindly following what they tell you to say.

And your type usually worries about government controlling you, HA! Who do you think spoon feeds you guys these lies, remember the GOP is part of the government. And here you are doing the foot work for them as a propaganda machine, without pay even.

We all live different lives, and all encounter different scenarios in life, and any time you link race to making a better decision, it is racist. Sotomayor made a statement about race being a factor in being able to make a better decision, which is racist.

This is the the dictionary definition for racism:

The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

Sure sounds that her comment falls in line with the term racism.

The unedited version still is not entirely defensible. We have to scrutinize Supreme Court nominees, and we cannot just let comments like that go by without questioning. If we really wanted to try to put it in perspective, we could create a similar comment, and attribute it to a white male. For instance, imagine that a white male judge had said the following:

"I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latina female who hasn't lived that life."

I'm pretty sure jaws would drop.

BS, they are just descriptive words they do not imply that because she is Latina or because a white male means they can make a better decision.

take out the descriptive words and tell me its racist...

"I would hope that a wise person with the richness of their experiences would more often then not reach a better conclusion then a person who hasn't lived that life"

Latina, White, Male, Female are just descriptive words nothing more you are the ones implying that they are racist or sexist "hidden" meaning to them.

By taking words out, that in itself is altering the quote, is it not? If the quote as-is seems racist or biased, than that's how it seems. Rush altered it to make it sound worse, you altered it to make it sound better. But taken as is, it does raise some questions, in my opinion.

Mike, TX, she could have said that with out the terms, but instead she inserted race into it, and that made it a racist statement, just because it wasn't in total mean spirit, doesn't mean it's not racist.

Also, you reasoning is very flawed, with:

        more often then not

If someone were to say "75% of white's are smarter then Latina's", that would mean more often then not. Is that not racist? You are inserting race and saying one is better then the other. Fits the definition, just like her original statement does.

For those that choose to attack Rush Limbaugh I believe that you miss one point, and that is the fact that he makes many excellant point regarding the Republican party and the fact that his "packaging and presentation" of said point is to say the least offputting is the issue with him.

I believe Sotomayor is a racist. Dead horse no reason to beat it.

Colin Powell, he opted to get out of politics. He wanted nothing to do with them any longer. I believe that his disagreements with Obama on fiscal issues are fair, and I believe his agreement with Obam on social iussues ifs fair. The bottom line, I believe you are seeing the proverbial toe being dipped into the water to determine his viability and how his message is being recieved within the Republican party for a run against Obama in 2012.

I believe that Colin Powell would be an excellant candidate for President in 2012. I disagree with him on many issues, but I believe if there is a person that does not care about party lines it is he. I feel he would be an excellant candidate for the GOP, he has been a voice of reason, regardless of whether I agree with him or not.

I would have to agree. Colin Powell seems to be the only one with a bit of sense in the entire GOP. And he has the credentials to back it up. He is the only possible GOP candidate I can think of who even stands a chance at drawing enough moderates/independants to come close to Obama in the 2012 election.

That of course is not to say I would vote for him. The religious nutjobs in the GOP would still scare me away from them enough to assure that.

He apparently feels the FDA recall of Zicam (a nasal cold remedy that was never evaluated by the FDA which has been linked to loss of smell in 130 reported cases) is some sort of persecution of him by Obama, because Zicam is an advertiser on his show. I would seriously consider voting for General Powell for president, but I don't think there's any chance at all that he would run. For one thing, he had his chance before and chose not to do it. Now he's in his seventies, I think, and it's getting to be too late. Secondly, he would never win the Republican nomination, since he is a moderate who supported Obama. The far right would attack him nonstop. The Republican Party is a party dominated by the likes of Limbaugh, Cheney, Coulter, Hannity, Malkin, Palin and Gingrich. A true moderate will not be their nominee until the party itself changes drastically. And that's too bad, because Colin Powell would have made an excellent candidate. If he would have run in 2000, he would have won, and the eight year national nightmare would not have occurred. And the Republican Party brand would look quite different today.

I don't believe Powell will run either. McCain tried in 2000. He made a lot more sense back then than in the last election. It was like two completely different men. Why? The republican party twisted him into the beliefs of the base. Powell wouldn't allow them to do that to him. I don't think he is interested in being President.

Colin Powell is a talented man and a former leader of this country. Rush is also a talented man with a huge following. Since Powell has self-identified as a Republican, I am certain there are many issues on which he and Limbaugh agree.

Sotomayor is not an issue on which they agree. It is entirely possible for men of good will to agree to disagree on a specific. If someone here tries to tell me the Democrats are united on every issue, I will pronounce her a liar or an idiot.

Personally, I had high hopes for Sotomayor. She was originally picked by George Bush, which told me that she likely was a middle-of-the-roader or possibly conservative. Her rulings however, have shown a definite tilt to the left. The New Haven firefighter case shows that.

Moreover, of all the cases she has heard and ruled on, six have been sent to the Supreme Court. Five of those six have been overturned.

She just isn't Supreme Court material.

                Rush is right.

                  AB Princeton, Summa Cum Laude

JD Yale, Editor of Law Journal

Ten years on the Circuit bench.

Heard over 3000 cases as an appeals court judge.

                  Written 380 opinions.

Rejected nearly 90% of claimants in discrimination cases.

Considered centrist by the American Bar Association.

Of the cases in which she provided an opinion, only 1.3% were reviewed by the Supreme Court. Of those, her overturn rate of 67% (four of the six cases) is consistent with the rate of all cases (nearly 70%) that the high court overturns. In the firefighter case, she actually ruled based on the law. The Supreme Court set new precedent in its ruling. Anyone who has bothered to study her body of jurisprudence has concluded that her opinions are solidly based on precedent and established law. There are few people as qualified as Sonia Sotomayor to sit on the Supreme Court.

The haters on this message board rely on wilful ignorance and intellectual bankruptcy as the foundation for their vacuous claims of unfitness. In fact, rarely has there ever been a judge more qualified to sit on the high court.

I say, "go ahead, GOP, have at it". Scream "racist" till you bust a blood vessel. Prepare to lose Arizona in the next Presidential election as Latinos fill the polls in response to your ignorant race-baiting. I hope all of you haters on this board are able to get as many television and radio interviews as you can as you are absolutely the best motivator any person of color can have for registering and going to the polls.

You do realize that the Supreme Court had an option Sotomayor did not have, don't you? You do realize that an appalete court justice cannot rule a law unconstitutional, don't you? You do realize that, given the text of the law, her opinion was correct, as evidenced by the two other justices that joined with her in a unanimous verdict, don't you? You do realize that none of the nine justices on the Supreme Court actually disagreed with her opinion, don't you? That rather than overturning her decision, they ruled the entire law unconstitutional? Something that Sotomayor could not do, unless she wanted to be an 'activist judge'?

No, you don't. You just like to believe that this is all some sports game and that having a decision overturned is like loosing in a tournament. You don't actually understand how courts work, but believe you do, because you can recite trite, uninformed talking points.

You know what I am tired of playing nice, I have bit my tongue over and over on this topic. We are not playing " the race card" anyone who claims that is just trying to use it as cover.

I am a white male and to toss out that comment would never come to my mind if I was ever called a racist, its a move intended to reverse the conversation and divert attention from the truth.

You know what, the large majority of Republicans are racist you can pretend all you want that we are just name calling but the fact remains every last one I know, to include family members that I no longer speak with since the election, are racists.

Trust me here in Texas you can just sit in a restaurant and hear these people spewing the racist crap and proclaiming their conservativness to the room like its a badge of honor.

And you can claim all you want that it must be a just a few people here in this state, Bullsh*t! They are reciting the same crap that comes out of Limbaugh and conservatives on this site, just edited to replace the racial slurs with more acceptable euphemisms

At this point I think I might actually have more respect for you people if you would just admit that you don't like Obama because he is a black man. We can all see you feel that way but can't man up and just admit what is plain to the rest of the world.

I think many on this board forget that it was the Republican party who fought to end slavery.

The Republican party who passed the reconstruction amendments that gave meaning to the citizenship of African-Americans.

The same Republican party who integrated the south against the wishes of Democratic Governors like Orval Faubus and others, by sending Federal troops to allow the schools of Little Rock to integrate.

It was Eisenhower, a Republican, who integrated the armed forces.

The Republicans tried to block the give-away programs of FDR which had the effect of destroying black families and replacing fathers with "entitlements". No one has done more to reenslave the black race than the Democrats with Government dependency programs.

The same Republican party is home to the likes of Collin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams and Sam Ford.

The Republican party is NOT prejudiced despite the deliberetly misleading claims of some losers on this board. Democrats = Liars.

Micrometer, no one forgets about the republican party's once rock solid commitment to establishing the full rights to citizenship and freedom to all persons regardless of color. You, however, clearly ignore the last 45 years of the GOP's Faustian deal with racists - specifically courting southerners fleeing the democratic party after Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights and Civil Rights Acts. Barry Goldwater ran for President on a platform of "States Rights", code words for allowing local governments to continue oppressing its citizens. The only non-southern state he won was his home state of Arizona. Nixon developed and pursued "The Southern Strategy", and viewed abortion as necessary and allowable in the case of interracial pregnancies. Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy in the county that murdered three civil rights workers. George H.W. Bush ran his "Willie Horton" ads. Former democrat turned republican Jesse Helms ran his "white hands" ads. Former democrat turned republican Trent Lott offered that our nation would be better off if fellow democrat turned republican Strom Thurmond had been elected President, the same Strom Thurmond who fathered a baby with a black woman. George W. Bush even played the race card against John McCain, running push ads in South Carolina discussing McCain's black child. Congresswoman Bachmann attempted to blame the entire financial meltdown on black people.

This is only the tip of the iceberg of hatred fostered and maintained by a certain element within the republican party to this day. The link below shows merely the latest case in point:

                          http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-07-06/new-gop-racist-headache/

To be fair, the article indicates that moderate republicans are beginning to stand-up and confront those within their party whose politics are built on a foundation of hatred, bigotry and ignorance. Unless and until the GOP states unequivocably that racists are unwelcome and then backs that up with swift and aggressive rebuttal of its fringe elements, you will continue having to reach back 50 years to the "Golden Ages" of GOP commitment to an egalitarian society.

A very visible group within GOP politics tells the ignorant who to hate, fear or envy. Blacks one day, gays the next, latinos another day, Muslims still another. I'm not saying that this element is ubiquitous. But the time for GOP moderates to look the other way, or bring up days long gone, should be over. Bury your head in the sand about this if you want to, but your continued delusion is nothing less than pathetic.

Thank you for your long and reasoned response.

Many of the points you bring up are subject to intrepretation. Where ronald Reagan announced his candidacy for example. Willie Horton was a criminal. The use of his image was not racist, unless political correctness would have the ad show one black and one white criminal.

If Strom Thurmond fathered a bi-racial baby, he could hardly be called prejudiced, could he?

And so on and so on.

I think the reason people are against the Republican party is that it insists on personal responsibility, something many try to escape. Of course, they can't say that, so they scream "racism" instead.

And black America seems to be getting it. Men like Bill Cosby are telling the youger generation to stop with the lazy gang banger mentality. Forget the drugs, the making a baby with every girl in the neighborhood. To take responsibility (there's that word again) for their own actions and stop blaming "whity" for every bad thing that happens.

Okay, I've drifted way off topic, but I cannot stand by and see moderates like Rush Limbaugh belittled for their opinion.

Of course, many statements and events leave plenty of room for multiple interpretations and messages, but that doesn't mean that one interpretation is inherently wrong simply because we don't look at it from that standpoint. I submit that the racial component of those messages are deliberate if for no other reason than their consistency over time. Republican official Lee Atwater was explicit in his discussion of how the Southern Strategy was applied. Former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman apologized for the GOP tactics of racial appeals in electoral contests. Clearly, there is no need to take my word for it. The clear message of the Willie Horton ad was if you vote for Dukakis, a scary black man is going to come into your house and rape your wife and kill your kids. Strom Thurmond wasn't the first white supremacist to have sex with a black woman and probably won't be the last. If lust can compel a man to cheat on his wedding vows, a racist fathering an interracial child is merely an ironic indictment of hypocrisy.

Your thesis of personal responsibility as the reason people are negative on the republican party is comforting to those who believe it. Respectfully, I'm confident that most people regard such a view as delusional. Further, I would be remiss if I did not share that your line of reasoning beginning that "black America seems to be getting it..." is a backhanded insult. Count me as one who acknowledges that the cycle of single parenthood by persons with no values to pass to new generations is damaging to the black community and to America. That said, the message I've heard coming from certain GOP spokespersons is that such pathologies are ubiquitous. This message is not helpful. I submit to you that the messages Bill Cosby has shared with the community are messages I share with my son every day. They are messages that I grew up with, taught by my parents. Every black person I call a friend shares these messages with their kids. I find myself resentful of the GOP because they see my race but they do not see me or anyone in my family or most black people that I know. Contrary to your apparent view, black people tend to be very socially conservative. Approximately 70% of African Americans voted in favor of Proposition 8. Most black parents are in favor or school choice in direct conflict with the teachers in their own families. Blacks will vote for a socially conservative issue but not vote for social conservatives because of the messages the black community has received from white conservatives with respect to race.

Back on subject, I don't consider Rush Limbaugh to be a moderate and I suspect that the only ones who do are those who are to the right of Rush. General Colin Powell is a moderate.

I agree in part with some of the things you have said. Black people are generally conservative, but it is the nature of most conservatives to quietly go about their own business. They just don't make the fuss and get noticed like the smaller more vocal liberal wing.

(Another example of this is N.O.W. Most American women want nothing to do with them or their agenda, but because they are so vocal.)

The same may be true of the white conservatives who speak negatively about race. They are reacting to the small community of black Americans who act badly, by which I mean the Willie Hortons of this world. It doesn't help when we see our jails full of black men, our welfare lines crowded with black teens with one or two babies on their hips and many of the social problems there are today bing disproportionately attributely to blacks.

My black neighbors of 24 years acted in a conservative way and were welcomed into our otherwise white community. I'm not sure Willie Horton would have been as welcome.

Issues like this will cost them their legitimacy as a national party. Maybe Libertarians will take their place...

He looks a bit thinner, but a lot older, in just the past few months.

BTW, I googled kummerspeck. One of the sites listed the definition as literally "grief bacon." Thought you might enjoy that.

The only thing a supreme court justice should do is uphold the CONSTITUTION. Judge Sotomayor should be judged on that and that only. I do not care if they are black, orange, purple or what ever color do they uphold the CONSTITUTION in their judgements? That is the only litmus test that should matter.

The Supreme Court seems to be saying the Affirmative action programs of the 70's may not have been Constitutional after all.

Finally the affirmative action insanity is coming to an end. As King said don't judge someone by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I would also add that you judge by their education, experience, past transgressions (arrest record), and yes by their test scores. The "best" should always be rewarded and not reward incompetence.

I will never understand how people can take Limbaugh seriously.
He's an entertainer, a radio talk show host, a novelty act at best.

In my opinion, the fact that he's been getting so much attention is good for the Left - which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. His rants are counter productive, alienating the moderates from the Hard-Core Base.

Just don't tell anyone... let him lose more voters for the GOP.

Rush runs his mouth because of the attention that he draws and mostly from people who disagree with him. Ignore him and he will go away.

You listen to Al Franken? With or without diapers?

I have listend to Limbaugh off and on for about 2-3 years, He is very big headed and into himself, that we all know. But I haven't heard ONE racist comment from him, people can clip here and there but it is never in full context. I am sure I could clip Olberman or anyone else for that matter and call them racist haters, neocon liberals if I wanted to. I don't agree with everything he says, but he does make good points.

does anyone but liberals listen to Limbaugh?

He is just like Howard Stearn with 50% of his audience are people that hate him so much they listen to him non-stop.

Sotomayor is not a reverse racist. First of all there is no such thing as reverse racism. There is only racism in that you include or exclude by race.

Therefore, for the record Mr Powell, Sotomayor is a racist.

Puerto Ricans are particularly sensitive about the Sotomayor haters and if the Republicans rub them the wrong way, the bad PR Reps get in the minority communities will just get worse... if it can get any worse...

The Grapefruit Diet isn't as extreme as the Master Cleanse, but the Grapefruit diet can take many forms. The bottom line is that you eat half a Grapefruit or an entire grapefruit before every meal during the diet. This is not to be confused with the Grapefruit Juice Diet, which only uses grapefruit juice or a 1 juice version a Juice Diet or Juice Cleanse.
