Hume: 'There's Been Very Little If Any Reporting' On Obama's Faith

Yesterday on the Laura Ingraham show, Fox News's Senior Washington Correspondent Brit Hume agreed with Ingraham that examinations of Gov. Sarah Palin's (R-AK) religion are inappropriate. He argued that such reports are completely different than questions the press stoked about Sen. Barack Obama's (D-IL) church, because those questions were about Obama's pastor, not about Obama's faith:

HUME: There was a big controversy about Barack Obama's church, not because of the Christian doctrine that was preached from the pulpit or the nature of the faith that was practiced there, but because of the highly political statements that the pastor had made, mostly about America. Which is an entirely different proposition and an entirely different story. There have been very little if any searching reporting done about Barack Obama's faith.

Dear god.......Hume is a damn fool. It boggles the mind how dumb he is. The media has reported (if not also misreported) on Obama's faith for months. First it was trying to say he was a Muslim in '07, which has always kinda simmered under the surface of the media and then in February this year, Reverend Wright was being run on hot and cold taps until Obama won North Carolina's primary.

Ingraham and Hume, oh yeah, I'm gonna pay oh so much attention to the crap that those two spew. They should both crawl back under the rock they came from.

No one dare to ask questions of 'Saint Sarah the Savior', so once again the tactic is to act like no one has checked out Obama's religious views and affiliations. Seems like day after day all we heard were sound bites, out of context, from Obama's preacher - 'God damn America' - over and over, implying that he hates America. Then there is the constant innuendo implying that he is a Muslim.

It's ok when her preacher says - 'God will damn America'.

Brit Hume is out of his mind if he thinks there hasn't been plenty of looking into Barack's faith. Then again Brit Hume is one incredibly ignorant human being, which is why he can only get hired by FOX Noise.

I forgot to add...Snotty...

But that's what FOX Noise is all about anyway. Good forbid they should deal with real bread and butter issues honestly and accurately.

Obama's faith has been repeatedly misrepresented, ridiculed ... the same people who slam him for (only through rumor, and not in reality) being a Muslim slam him for the Wright issue. How a Muslim can be a radical Christian is beyond me. And then there's the whole middle name thing ... just stupid.

Now Palin is under the same spotlight. I can't stand the false rumors that are getting into the limelight regarding her either, although there are some valid issues about her religious beliefs. And the same damn type of rumors are flying around about her, some true and some not.

I don't like Palin's religious views, and I don't like Obama's association with his former church. Seems to me that both of them are way too radical for my tastes in that regard. But what's really sad is that the typical American reads false rumors about any of the candidates, and believes them. All the follow-up articles showing that any specific rumor was false don't make it through to those who read a headline, a sensational article, and believed it. Palin's latest kid wasn't hers, Obama is a Muslim ... I'll bet quite a few people still believe that crap.

katrix - I share your discomfort with the religious views of both Palin and Obama.

Obama's statements that he would expand support for 'Faith Based' groups was very disturbing to me. On the other hand, I don't get the impression from him that he is willing to condemn those who don't believe as he does or otherwise base policy more broadly on his personal religious views.

In the case of Mrs. Palin I get the opposite impression. She is, perfectly, willing to condemn and see those who hold views different from hers as evil and enemies to be destroyed at all costs. She believes she is doing 'Gods' will - and that must translate into policy. Of course, she would never admit this outside of her own religious circle.

Good. I could care less what his faith is. I would have the most respect for him if he was an atheist.
