Thanks to the wonderful world of television news, I have learned so much vital stuff about Mike Huckabee's homespun charms, the secret plans of Hillary Clinton's better half to conquer the world and Barack Obama's family ties. Now I know how the candidates feel about everything -- except the issues.

So what else is new? Corporate Media is geared to a superficial commerce in political personalities. You don't think they actually want to live up to the FCC mandate to serve the Public Interest do you?
A progressive FCC should ensure responsible Media else start lifting licenses. Send a message, Make examples.
Of course the ninny Paulites would object. Regard their pitiable squeaks and squawks.

In fairness, we have had several televised debates in which the candidates have had an ample opportunity to speak on the issues. The media itself does little to focus on the issues, but I think that there's been a good amount of exposure to them. That said, I think that Obama's stances are going to come under more scrutiny in the weeks ahead.

yeah like whether hilary likes pearls of diamonds..
got to love debates that have zero hard hitting questions
makes it really easy to get a clear view on tough issues.

Okay..list some questions concerning the issues you would ask Hillary?

The problem with the debates is that they all addressed the same questions over and over, ad nauseum... except when they asked the candidates which was their favorite Bible verse or whether they preferred the Red Sox or the Yankees.
The candidates were only given the opportunity to speak on the issues the moderators asked of them, and the moderators generally didn't even ask each question of all the candidates; the most relevant questions were reserved for the media favorites Clinton, Obama and Edwards and the rest got a lot of questions amounting to "why are you still in the race?"

The debates were hardly a perfect format, but compared to previous years we've had more national media exposure of candidates via debates BEFORE THE FIRST IOWA CAUCUS than ever before. More can be done, but it was a step in the right direction overall.
C'maaan...How many members of the uncircumcised booboisie out there actually watch the debates? They see a lot more of fat-heads like Chris Matthews, Tim Russert and the babblers like Freddy Barnyard Barnes and Chucky Kid-Twist Krauthammer over at FOX News.
God forbid they should ever read a newspaper, listen to NPR or watch PBS.

Okay..list some questions concerning the issues you would ask Hillary?
1. What do you propose to do about the dollar crisis?
2. What do you propose to do about the credit crisis?

4. What do you propose to do concerning Iraq & Afghanistan & Iran & Pakistan & N. Korea & Sudan & Chad & Central African Republic & Zimbabwe & Israel & Syria & China?
5. What kind of trade agreements do you propose for the US?
6. How do you feel about the WTO?
7. What do you plan to do about the illegal immigrant issue facing the US?
8. How do you plan to limit fraud in your national healthcare plan?
9. Which Bush tax cuts will you repeal?
10. What do you propose to do about the trade deficit?

How much control do you think the President would have over any of those? They were talking about the new jobs report out showing 5% unemployment on PBS today, and played a clip of Hillary talking about it. Seriously? Like millions more people are suddenly going to have jobs because candidate x or y is in office?
9. Which Bush tax cuts will you repeal?
You can call them whatever you want, but I think you'll discover that only Congress can pass or repeal tax increases or decreases.

I don't expect a President to control issues but I do hope he/she understands the issues facing America and to LEAD. Otherwise, we could just have a lottery every 4 years rather than elections.

With a Democrat in the White House and controlling both Houses of Congress, it shouldn't be too difficult for Hillary to get whichever tax cuts repealed that she wanted. During the 2004 Election, all of the Democratic candidates discussed which of the various Bush tax cuts they wanted to repeal.
One good thing the media did right: CSPAN's coverage last night was really interesting; live footage that became somewhat of a caucus reality show. It really portrayed how confusing, archaic and interesting the caucus procedure is.

Thanks. How could I've possibly overlooked CSPAN (Commie-Span?)? Early onset Alzheimer's…?

Folks:
Been busy the last few getting some end of the year bidness done. Now, the Chancellor is back and ready to rumble on New Hampshire.
I did have with my buds and family here Obama at 35% followed by HRC then Blow Dry last night.
Hell, even Blow Dry jumped up and bit HRC.
REM: "This is the end of the Clintons as we know it, and I feel fine!"
