Who owned drug plane that crashed in Mexico?

advertisement

Some news reports have linked the plane to the transport of terrorist suspects to the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but those reports cite logs that indicate only that the plane flew twice between Washington, D.C., and Guantanamo and once between Oxford, Conn., and Guantanamo. No terrorist suspects are known to have been transferred to Guantanamo directly from the United States.

The jet, carrying the tail number N987SA, changed hands twice in recent weeks. But how it ended up in the hands of suspected drug traffickers remains a mystery.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Thanks for the Webb link; he was one heck of a journalist and it's clear who'd like him better dead.

Great reference GP

Gary's time here in Sacramento at the Sacramento News and Review was all too short. This story has haunted me since it burst into the press at the San Jose Mercury News.

Suicide? Two gun shots to the head? Hmmm...

Thanks for the seed.

Who owned the DC9 N900SA with 5.5 tons of cocaine packed into 128 identical black suitcases onboard that was busted at the Ciudad del Carmen airport in Mexico on April 10, 2006? "On April 13, 2006, the aircraft was deregistered and sold to an unknown customer in Venezuela."

Three days between the bust and the deregistration and resale? Fishy, fishy, fishy...

If I had to speculate (and I have to, since nobody seems to know for sure), I'd say the plane owners were one of the following:

    - Some rogue faction within the CIA that's running drugs to raise money for ... arms? Unmistakable signs of companies known to be CIA fronts and people considered to be Bush Family retainers. Who is 'Royal Sons LLC' if the President of Royal Sons, Frederic Geffon, claims to know nothing about what his plane was doing in Mexico with 5.5 tons of coke? Another: Brent Kovar, Tom DeLay appointee to the Business Advisory Council, part of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

    - Some other sort of secretive global narcotics cartel?
